Real Madrid forward’s camp questions fairness of treatment after Alaves controversy

Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Alaves did little to quiet the growing sense of frustration surrounding Vinicius Jr. 

Once again, the Brazilian winger found himself at the centre of a refereeing controversy, one that has reignited internal anger and reinforced a feeling that something deeper may be at play.

The decisive moment arrived late in the match when Vinicius broke into the penalty area and went to ground after contact from an Alaves player. 

The reaction was immediate. Real Madrid supporters demanded a penalty, while the home side responded with equal intensity, calling for a second yellow card and accusing the forward of simulation. 

After a brief pause, the official waved play on, judging that there had been no infringement. 

VAR was not called upon to intervene, and the decision stood. On the surface, it was another subjective call in a fast-moving game.

Now, according to information gathered by SPORT, those close to Vinicius believe the issue goes far beyond a single decision. 

In fact, there is a growing sense of belief that the Brazilian is being penalised for his reputation rather than the action itself.

Within his inner circle, there is a strong belief that past controversies, confrontations, and his outspoken nature have damaged his image in the eyes of referees.

They are convinced that if the same action had involved another Real Madrid player, or a forward from a different club, the outcome would likely have been different. 

There is more to it

It is said that the feeling of “persecution” around Vinicius has now reached a worrying level. 

According to those close to the player, there is an interpretation that referees have been subtly instructed to show zero tolerance toward him.

These include light contact inside the box, repeated duels with defenders, and moments where VAR involvement would normally be expected.

Whether this perception is justified or not, it is becoming a psychological burden for the player. 

Vinicius continues to be decisive on the pitch, but these repeated flashpoints risk overshadowing his game.
