Fabio Silva still considered Roma’s main alternative to Zirkzee

Gian Piero Gasperini has been clear with the club: he wants at least one offensive reinforcement in January.

The target is a striker and the renowned right-footed left-back, but the manager would be happy with a versatile player like Fabio Silva, who could be back in fashion after summer interest.

Joshua Zirkzee remains at the top of Frederic Massara’s list. He’s a No. 9 with the class of a trequartista who can play all attacking roles and who knows the Italian league well.

Negotiations with Manchester United, however, are far from straightforward, which is why Roma is studying alternatives.

However, as reported in Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi sporting director is ready to negotiate: he will free up space to offer the English club a costly loan, perhaps even exceeding €7 million.

The only certainty, however, is that Zirkzee himself will need to push for the transfer. The striker, however, is needed immediately; Gasperini needs him, and the tight league standings are a dream.

So Fabio Silva’s name is back in the news. The Giallorossi are reportedly ready to offer the German club the same deal they had for Zirkzee: a costly loan with an option or obligation.

The Portuguese has failed to establish himself in Germany and has collected one goal and three assists in just 364 minutes.

The 2002-born player had been waiting a long time for the Giallorossi in the summer, and continues to keep an eye on them: after a few months this push and pull could end with a happy ending.
