⚽ With the ball rolling
Mainly due to the natural nerves of a final and also the strong sun in Asunción, the first half was technically very weak.
The Argentine goalkeeper made a great save in the 21st minute, and Bernard hit the post with a free kick five minutes later.
Other than that, there was a lot of effort from the players, but little inspiration and creativity from the attacking sectors.
In the second half, with the relentless sun giving way to the generous shade that covered the pitch, Galo started to control more possession, with Lanús sitting back and waiting for a counterattack.
Unable to break through the solid Argentine defense, Atlético-MG tried shots from outside the box, but Losada was alert.
? Extra time
Galo started better and had a chance to score at 100 minutes, but Biel headed straight at goalkeeper Losada.
In the second half of extra time, Biel (111') received the ball in the box but shot straight at the goalkeeper.
? Penalties
Atlético-MG: Gustavo Scarpa, Igor Gomes, Everson, Alexsander converted; Hulk, Biel, and Vitor Hugo missed.
Lanús: Izquierdoz, Marcich, Aquino, Cardozo, Watson scored; Walter Bou and Lautaro Acosta missed.
? What's next
Galo returns to the field next Tuesday (25th), when they host Flamengo at Arena MRV, for the 36th round of the Brasileirão.
