West Ham United defender Zadorsky undergoes ankle surgery
West Ham United defender Shelina Zadorsky has undergone surgery on an ankle injury.
The Hammers announced the news via a post on their official club X account earlier today.
The 33-year-old Canadian international centre-back sustained the injury during a club training session earlier this month. Zadorsky has now started the rehabilitation process after swiftly going under the surgeon’s knife.
Zadorsky will celebrate two years as a West Ham United player next month. She initially joined The Hammers on loan from former club Tottenham Hotspur for the second half of the 2023/2024 season before signing for the East Londoners on a permanent basis that summer. Zadorsky signed a contract extension with West Ham United last summer which covers the 2025/2026 campaign. She has made close to 50 appearances for the club in all competitions.
The defender’s absence is a blow for West Ham United with the club having built some improved form in recent weeks. Rehanne Skinner’s side have taken five points from their last four games in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Zadorsky will miss Sunday’s Subway Women’s League Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester City while it is unknown how soon she will return following the winter break.
