OM’s record-breaking and historic start to the season ?
A team that works... very well.
Victorious over OGC Nice 5-1 this Friday evening in the opening match of the 13th round of Ligue 1, Olympique de Marseille has struck yet another major blow in the league, temporarily taking the top spot in the standings!
OM is, for now, in the title race with PSG... and it makes sense when you take a close look at the numbers from the start of the season for the Phocéens.
It’s simple: with 28 points collected out of a possible 39, Marseille equals its record at this stage of the competition in the 21st century. In 2014/15, Marcelo Bielsa’s OM also had 28 points after 13 matches. Apart from that season, it hasn’t happened since 2000!

OM also impresses with its offensive power. With 33 goals scored in 13 Ligue 1 matches, OM has achieved its best total in Ligue 1 at this stage of the season since... 1948/49.
