Mirassol make history, secure Libertadores spot in first year of Série A
November 20, 2025 is already marked in the history of Brazilian football.
This Thursday, Mirassol – in its first season in Série A – has mathematically secured a spot in the 2026 Conmebol Libertadores.

The Leão didn't even have to take the field, but with the victory of Corinthians over São Paulo, the team from the interior of São Paulo can no longer be caught by their "state brothers," nor by RB Bragantino (all three are outside the G-7).
Let us explain: Mirassol is in fourth place with 60 points and can no longer be reached by Massa Bruta, Timão, or Tricolor do Morumbi, all with 45 points, with 12 points still up for grabs.
In other words, with four rounds to spare, Mirassol has become the first "rookie" of the points system era in the Brasileirão (since 2003) to qualify for the Libertadores.
For now, Leão is guaranteed a spot in the qualifying rounds (before the group stage) of the continental tournament, but who can doubt this team led by coach Rafael Guanaes?
With the goal of finishing the 2025 Brasileirão in the G-5, which would guarantee a direct spot in the group stage, Mirassol still faces Ceará (home), Vitória (away), Vasco (away), and Flamengo (home).
Botafogo (55 points), Fluminense (54 points), and Bahia (53 points) are Mirassol’s main rivals in the fight for that group stage spot in the continental tournament.
