Chivu won’t talk about Inter’s transfer market after derby defeat
Cristian Chivu is confident his Inter side will ‘find solutions’ to beat a direct rival, but refuses to talk about possible January transfers: ‘I’ve just lost a derby.’
Inter coach Chivu examined the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 loss against Milan during a press conference attended by Football Italia last night.
Inter dominated possession, had 20 total shots on target against Milan’s seven, but still lost their fourth Serie A game this season.

“The team that scores one more always wins. Unfortunately, today they scored it,” Chivu said.
“We tried to be dominant, we kept our balance, but on the only counter, we conceded; they scored. That’s football. Maybe we lost a bit of clarity; we could have done better with the final pass. We conceded a few shots on target, but unfortunately, we lost. Credit to the opponent, who played with organisation.”
Inter have beaten Roma away this season, but have also lost to Juventus, Napoli and Milan.
“We need to do better in these types of matches. Fortunately, we are just three points from the top spot, despite four losses,” Chivu said.
“There are many teams in the mix, but what we are doing, especially in head-to-head clashes, is not enough. We’ll find solutions to beat a direct rival, but we must always be careful not to lose our identity and add something more. We probably need to improve mentally and in our perception of danger, but I saw improvements compared to Napoli, especially in terms of managing the frustration.”
A reporter asked whether Chivu will try to develop his players on the pitch or demand January signings to raise the level of the team.

“I appreciate your curiosity and work, but I’ve just lost a derby, and I don’t feel like talking about the transfer market,” he replied.
“I lost a match, and I’m worried it can leave a mark. I have 22 players with Inter qualities, I’m not thinking about the market.”
Andy Diouf, one of the new Inter signings, was introduced in the final minutes, and Chivu was happy with the contribution he gave.
“From what he showed, he prefers to come onto the pitch in a 4-4-2 for one-on-ones, creating danger and entering the box,” the Inter coach said.
“He did a bit of that. We’re happy with how he works and how he has integrated. I’d say he did some good things.”
Inter’s next game is against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this coming Wednesday.
